Ernesto Neto

Ernesto Neto works with textiles and various other materials to make movable, touchable, interactive sculptures, structures, and installations that stimulate the senses.

One major part of his work utilizes arguably the most overlooked sense in art - smell. His polyamide and crochet netting works are often stuffed with herbs, spices, or other aromatics. For him, senses connect people to the world around them, both literally and more spiritually.

His works are there for people to walk through, around, to touch, to smell, to see, to experience.

Wisdom of the Parts

His works organize space and flow, and inspire playful curiosity in visitors.

Humanoids

Some of his artwork is wearable, and interacts intimately with the human body. Rather than stimulating senses, "humanoids" draw attention to the senses and act as an extension of them.
